Report: Michigan State expected to land Nebraska grad transfer Kevin Williams

Cary Edmondson / USA TODAY Sports

Former Nebraska defensive tackle Kevin Williams was granted a sixth year of eligibility earlier in the offseason and he reportedly plans to use it for a Big 10 rival.

Williams is expected to transfer to Michigan State, according to Mike Griffith of MLive. com. The freshman missed all of 2011 and 2013 with knee injuries, which is why he was granted the extra year.

He was also limited to only two tackles in three games last year because of a groin issue.

If Williams is healthy, he should be a big boost to the Spartans' defensive line. Williams was a former four-star recruit when he originally committed to the Cornhuskers.

With defensive tackle Damon Knox recently leaving the program, Williams should help fill the void.
