Georgia Tech releases 4-star signee Romello White from LOI

Georgia Tech granted four-star signee Romello White his release from the program, according to Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

White previously asked the Yellow Jackets to let him out of his letter of intent, which was signed long before the school fired coach Brian Gregory and replaced him with Josh Pastner.

The 6-foot-9 forward now becomes one of the top available 2016 recruits on the market. ESPN ranks the Marietta, Ga., native as the No. 77 prospect in the current recruiting class.

White is now in search of a college to attend for the third time. He was once committed to Tennessee, but backed out of that pledge after the Volunteers fired coach Donnie Tyndall following allegations that he committed major NCAA violations at his previous employer, Southern Mississippi.

Auburn, Georgia, Iowa State, and Virginia are among the other programs that offered White a scholarship before he chose Georgia Tech.
