Report: Syracuse's Richardson tells teams he'll stay in draft

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Syracuse's Malachi Richardson told teams during interviews at the NBA combine Friday that he has decided to stay in the draft, ESPN's Chad Ford reports.

News broke Thursday that Richardson would stay in the draft if he was told he'd be picked in the first round, so Friday's report suggests a team may have done so. The 6-foot-6, 195-pound wing gained national attention during the Orange's shocking Final Four run, capturing the Midwest Region's Most Outstanding Player award.

He finished his freshman season averaging 13.4 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, shooting 36.9 percent from the floor and 35.3 percent from beyond the arc.
