Jason Campbell not planning NFL return, says news came from fake account

Jason Campbell is happily retired.

The veteran quarterback, who had seemingly announced his intentions to return to the NFL on Wednesday, told ESPN's Jason Reid that the news came from a fake account.

Campbell did receive interest from the Indianapolis Colts toward the end of the 2015 season, but the fact that he passed on the opportunity now makes more sense considering the apparent lack of desire to play.

The 34-year-old's NFL career will come to an end after 10 seasons should he make his retirement official.

Selected in the first round of the 2005 draft, Campbell spent five seasons with the Washington Redskins before stops with the Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals.
