The Orlando Magic believe they are in pole position to hire Frank Vogel as their next head coach in the next week, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein and Chris Broussard.

Orlando believes it has become Vogel's preferred destination, according to the report, which also states that the Memphis Grizzlies have told Vogel that their coaching job is his if he wants it. The Grizzlies have reportedly interviewed other candidates in recent days, including James Borrego (who was previously the interim coach of the Magic) and David Fizdale.

From a standpoint of roster upside, the Magic represent a more intriguing job even though the Grizzlies have reached the postseason in six straight years. Orlando currently has a core of young, talented players that include Nikola Vucevic, Victor Oladipo, Elfrid Payton, and Evan Fournier.

With the reported hiring of Jeff Hornacek by the New York Knicks, the only coaching vacancies remaining in the NBA are the Magic, the Grizzlies, and the Houston Rockets.
