Giancarlo Stanton is rewriting StatCast history, hundreds of feet at a time.

On Friday, the Miami slugger added to his growing legend with a towering 475-foot blast that sailed out of Marlins Park and into the record books as the longest homer of the 2016 campaign. MLB StatCast broke down Stanton's mammoth two-run shot off Phillies right-hander Hector Neris with some jaw-dropping hitting metrics:

Stanton's 10th homer of the season didn't even crack the top five of his all-time blasts, though it did create further separation between him and his peers when it comes to power data. Here are some more stats to put Stanton's unprecedented power into perspective:

  • According to ESPN Stats & Info, Stanton's hit 31 homers measured at 450 feet or longer since 2010. Only three teams have hit more.
  • Stanton's single off Nationals pitcher Joe Ross earlier this season was the hardest-hit ball of the year, with an exit velocity of 120.1 mph.
  • Stanton dominated the hardest-hit ball leaderboard last season as well, holding the top three spots, five of the top six, and eight of the top 10.

Friday's 475-foot blast was just the sixth-longest of Stanton's career, sharing that distinction with his epic shot out of Dodgers Stadium last season.
