The Atlanta Falcons announced Wednesday that safety Keanu Neal, the 17th overall selection in this year's draft, is the first 2016 first-round pick to agree to terms on his four-year rookie contract,

Neal will sign the contract Thursday when he reports for rookie minicamp.

As with all contracts for first-round picks, Neal's four-year deal contains an option for a fifth year, which has to be exercised by May 3, 2019.

The two parties came to terms so quickly because Neal wanted to spend as much time preparing for his rookie season as possible, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

The 20-year-old was a two-year starter at Florida, and will likely be a day-one starter with the Falcons at strong safety.
