Former FIFA vice-president Jeffrey Webb could face a lifetime ban from football due to recommendations from the governing body's ethics committee.

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of racketeering conspiracy, three of wire fraud conspiracy and three of money laundering conspiracy, FIFA revealed in a statement.

"The final report was transmitted to the (ethics committee) adjudicatory chamber on 26 April 2016, with a recommended sanction of a lifelong ban from all football-related activities," the statement read.

Webb will be required to submit his defence to chief ethics judge Hans-Joachim Eckert to fight off the proposed sanction.

The Cayman Islands native was one of seven people involved in the infamous arrests on corruption charges at Zurich's five-star Baur au Lac hotel in May 2015.
