New Orleans Saints left tackle Terron Armstead has been handsomely rewarded for his breakout season in 2015.

Armstead signed a new five-year deal with the team Tuesday and the money reportedly makes him the second-highest paid player on the team, behind only the man he's tasked with protecting, Drew Brees.

The 24-year-old's new deal is worth $64.5 million in base salary, with $38 million guaranteed for injury and $25 million fully guaranteed, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The deal is virtually identical to the five-year contract signed by Buffalo Bills left tackle Cordy Glenn on Tuesday.

Armstead had a career year in 2015, solidifying his position among the league's best left tackles.

The former 2013 third-round pick was set to earn just over $1.825 million in 2016 before agreeing to the extension.
