After missing eight months of golf due to a wrist injury and subsequent surgery, 2003 U.S. Open winner Jim Furyk will return to action this weekend at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte.

"My wife joked it was kind of the first day of school," Furyk said, per Rex Hoggard's NBC Golf Central Blog. "She wanted to know if I had my best outfit on."

The 45-year-old, currently ranked 25th in the world, plans to play four of the next five weeks before the year's second major at Oakmont - where Furyk finished tied for second behind Angel Cabrera the last time the U.S. Open was played there in 2007.

"I'd still like to play as much as I can without getting too tired," he said. "Four of the first five is my goal and then I'll re-evaluate after that."
