Report: MLB won't investigate Cardinals' Martinez

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Carlos Martinez will not be investigated by MLB under its domestic violence policy.

A Florida woman is suing the 24-year-old for battery, negligent transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, and fraud, however, the league will not be investigating his case as the allegations are a result of a civil suit and not police activity, according to Mark Saxon of ESPN.com.

Martinez insists the lawsuit won't affect his performance on the mound.

"I'm pretty sure that I'm healthy. I'm pretty sure that I'm feeling good. I'm pretty sure I know who I am," Martinez said through an interpreter. "But, at the same time, that's not part of my job. That's my lawyer and my agent. They're going to take care of that."

New York Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman, Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes, and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig have been investigated this season by MLB under its new domestic abuse policy. Chapman was given a 30-game suspension, while Puig escaped further punishment from the league. A decision by the league on Reyes is still pending, though his charges were officially dropped in April.
