When the Denver Broncos traded up in the first round to draft Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch, the man currently slated to start at quarterback wasn't mad at all; he was ecstatic.

Mark Sanchez took the drafting of Lynch as confirmation he is on track to be the Broncos starter come September.

"Absolutely, that's the message I've received,'' Sanchez told ESPN on Monday. "I'm thrilled with this opportunity."

Sanchez was one of the first members of the Broncos to congratulate Lynch on his selection. The former Philadelphia Eagle and New York Jet expected more competition would show up to Broncos camp all along.

"Whether it was a veteran who came in, any of those things that were out there, any of these guys in the draft that were going to the pros this year, my focus wouldn't change,'' Sanchez said. "Why become a slave to your emotions like that? It's not worth it, you're just spinning your wheels for nothing."

Sanchez came into the league as a highly touted draft pick, but never developed to what he was projected to be. He has seen his name dragged through the mud because of some embarrassing episodes, but he's using that experience to make that best of his opportunity with the defending Super Bowl champs.

"I just kind of learned with time ... who knows what's going to happen and who cares?" said Sanchez. "What are you supposed to do? Meet your teammates, develop a relationship with them, learn the playbook, get involved in the community, that's it, those three things."

Sanchez has reportedly been a fantastic teammate this offseason, leading workouts, convincing players of his ability, and organizing social events.
