ESPN to feature 7 Big Ten primetime games in 2016 season
ESPN announced Monday that the network will feature seven Big Ten games in primetime to be broadcast on either ABC, ESPN, or ESPN2 during the 2016 season.
To nobody's surprise, six of the seven contests will feature either Michigan or Ohio State, with the only exception being the matchup between Nebraska and Wisconsin on Oct. 29.
Date | Visitor | Home | Time (ET) |
---|---|---|---|
Oct. 8 | Michigan | Rutgers | 7 p.m or 8 p.m |
Oct. 15 | Ohio State | Wisconsin | 8 p.m. |
Oct. 22 | Ohio State | Penn State | 8 p.m. |
Oct. 29 | Northwestern | Ohio State | 5:30 p.m. |
Oct. 29 | Nebraska | Wisconsin | 7 p.m. |
Nov. 5 | Nebraska | Ohio State | 8 p.m. |
Nov. 12 | Michigan | Iowa | 7 p.m or 8 p.m. |
The network is focusing on the two Big Ten rivals as both the Wolverines and Buckeyes hold enormous fanbases that bring large ratings. Jim Harbaugh's return to the college ranks with Michigan has only added to the national intrigue surrounding the program, bringing even more viewers to the conference games.
The two schools will maintain their traditional afternoon kickoff when they face one another in Columbus on Nov. 26.
