Iowa State's Naz Mitrou-Long was granted a hardship waiver by the Big 12 conference and will be able to play for the Cyclones in the 2016-17 season.
Mitrou-Long played in eight games last year before missing the rest of the season due to constant pain in his hips that were surgically repaired.
"Everything happens for a reason and although it hurt to not be able to play for a group of guys I loved last year, my body needed time to recover and that time off allowed me to feel the best I've felt since my freshman year," Mitrou-Long said in a school release.
The Mississauga, Ontario native averaged 12 points in the eight games he played last year.
