USC fails to produce top-50 pick for 1st time since 2002

USC added a somber chapter to its storied history Friday at the 2016 NFL Draft.

For the first time in 14 years, the Trojans failed to produce a top-50 pick in the NFL draft.

USC hasn't waited past No. 50 to hear its first player drafted since 2002, when the Seattle Seahawks made defensive back Kris Richards the 85th overall selection.

USC has 13 draft-eligible players this year, led by linebacker Su'a Cravens, who was selected 53rd overall by the Washington Redskins.

While USC was held off the board through 50 picks, eight other schools had multiple players taken.

The Trojans should find themselves back in familiar territory next year, when their draft class is expected to be headlined by standout wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
