Paxton Lynch reportedly won't be rushed into the Broncos' lineup as a rookie.

The newly acquired first-round pick will enter his debut season as a backup to starter Mark Sanchez, Mike Klis of 9News reports.

Denver was exploring a number of avenues by which it could add another quarterback before selecting Lynch on Thursday, including the possibility of adding Brian Hoyer.

The pursuit of a veteran will now end, according to Klis, virtually ensuring that Lynch will get as many reps as possible on the practice filed.

Sanchez last saw relatively consistent playing time with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014. Starting in eight of his nine appearances, the USC product finished the year with 2,418 passing yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
