Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis tendered his resignation Friday, one day after reports surfaced he was involved in potential recruiting violations.

"Bo Davis has submitted his letter of resignation," head coach Nick Saban said in a statement. "We appreciate all the contributions he made to the program and wish him and his family the very best in the future."

The Tuscaloosa News reported Thursday that Davis was expected to either resign or be fired due to possible recruiting violations. Alabama had been conducting an internal investigation into the situation, while the NCAA has also looked into the issue.

Davis, who was in his second stint at Alabama, rejoined the Tide in 2014 after working for three years at Texas. Davis previously served as the defensive line coach for Alabama from 2007-2010 and was part of a pair of national championship winning squads during his time in Tuscaloosa.
