Wolfsburg's Schurrle coy on Liverpool rumours

Andre Schurrle said he'll "see what happens" after Euro 2016 in response to rumours he could wind up at Liverpool during a mass summer exodus at VfL Wolfsburg.

The 50-time capped German international has previously been drawn on speculation of a move to Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur. He had said he and his club "have to talk about the future," and he's now revealed he'll bide his time in deciding where he'll ply his trade next season.

"I have not heard anything about it," he replied when asked about the Liverpool link specifically. "It's not my style to join in with the speculation.

"The European Championships are coming up. I want to play well in the three final matches for Wolfsburg - that's my focus. We'll see what happens after that. The sporting director has talked about a squad overhaul, and allegedly I am part of that. You need to see what happens."

Unfortunately things haven't gone well for the ex-Chelsea forward and Die Wolfe this season. Dieter Hecking's outfit finished second last term but is currently in 10th place, hamstrung by its struggles against the Bundesliga's supposedly lesser sides and a lack of success on the road.

This has led to suggestions of a busy summer transfer window in Lower Saxony as sporting director Klaus Allofs has hinted at an overhaul of the playing staff. Nicklas Bendtner has already been shown the exit door after a 20-month stint marred by poor form and ill-discipline.

Others who could leave Wolfsburg include Ricardo Rodriguez, who's apparently been eyed by Real Madrid, and alleged Chinese Super League target Luis Gustavo. Aged defender Naldo has also been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Wolfsburg travels to second-placed Borussia Dortmund in Saturday's slate of fixtures.
