Drogba praises teammates following comeback draw with NYCFC

Montreal Impact star Didier Drogba says his team showed plenty of character to claw back to a 1-1 draw against New York City FC.

The former Chelsea stalwart, who earned his second consecutive start on Wednesday night, was instrumental in securing a point for his team, whipping in a free-kick cross in added time and finding Dominic Oduro at the near post for the equalizing effort.

After the match, Drogba praised his teammates for their resilience at Yankee Stadium.

"It wasn't our best game, but we managed to get the tie," Drogba said, according to MLSsoccer.com. "I think it was a huge show of character about this team. To be in trouble late on the road and to come back like that is really big for our team."

Praise from Drogba (who, strangely enough, didn't have a name or number on his shirt for part of the match) will be well-received from his teammates, who are still recovering from a thorough drubbing at the hands of bitter rivals Toronto FC.

"The game against Toronto was devastating. I mean, to the fans, for us as a team, our confidence kind of went down a little bit," Oduro said. "This tie really boosted us up a bit, especially since it was on the road."
