Athletic Bilbao's Mikel San Jose signs long-term deal

Mikel San Jose agreed to commit his long-term future to Athletic Bilbao after putting pen to paper Wednesday on a deal designed to keep him at the San Mames until 2020.

The Basque side added San Jose's contract also includes a €40-million buyout clause.

San Jose joined Athletico on a permanent basis in 2010 following an unsuccessful period with Liverpool, where he spent most of his time on loan with Los Leones.

The defensive midfielder has managed two goals during his 31 appearances in La Liga this season.
