Report: Rockets receive permission to interview Walton

Nelson Chenault / USA TODAY Sports

Golden State Warriors assistant coach Luke Walton continues to garner plenty of interest from teams looking to fill their head coaching vacancy.

The Warriors granted permission to the Los Angeles Lakers to talk to the 36-year-old on Wednesday, and sources have told Marc Spears of ESPN that the Houston Rockets have also been added to the list of teams allowed to interview Walton.

The Rockets are certainly familiar with Walton. His Warriors just eliminated them from the playoffs Wednesday, following a win in Game 5.

Walton spent the first 43 games of the Warriors' season as the team's interim head coach, going 39-4 during Steve Kerr's absence.

Golden State said it will allow Walton to interview for other positions, but not during any playoff series. The Warriors are currently off, as they await the winner of the Portland Trail Blazers-Los Angeles Clippers series.
