Vardy accepts FA charge of improper conduct after West Ham dismissal

Leicester City will not fight the FA over Jamie Vardy's improper conduct charge stemming from his reaction to being sent off against West Ham.

The club announced Thursday that it has accepted the charge against the sinewy English striker, which could see him banned for crucial matches down the stretch as the Foxes look to capture the Premier League crown.

Though he has not decided to appeal, Vardy has requested a personal hearing in an effort to avoid being banned for multiple matches. As noted by the Guardian, he "is expected to appear before a three-person independent disciplinary commission early next week."

By virtue of his red card in the club's contentious draw against West Ham this past weekend, the 29-year-old automatically received a one-game suspension, and will play no part in the club's upcoming contest against Swansea City.

Vardy, who has found the net 22 times this season, was given his marching orders by referee Jon Moss after being adjudged to have dived in an attempt to win a penalty early in the second half.

In the aftermath of the decision, he reacted furiously, pointing and yelling in the face of the official. It was that reaction that saw the FA charge Vardy with improper conduct, which could ultimately see him banned from the May 1 contest against Manchester United.

From the Guardian:

There are a number of sanctions open to the commission, with the best case scenario for Leicester and Vardy being that he gets fined, clearing him to play in the Premier League leaders' final three matches of the season, against Manchester United, Everton, and Chelsea.

A final decision on Vardy's punishment is not expected until next week.
