Legendary pop musician Prince passed away Thursday, according to his publicist.

After learning of his death, several MLB players paid their condolences to one of the greatest musicians in the history of pop music.

Prince's death came hours after pro wrestler Joanie Laurer, better known as Chyna, also died.

The musician from Minneapolis touched hearts the world over with his music for four decades, which included close to 40 studio albums, several Grammy nominations and wins, and an acting career.

The news of his loss quickly spread throughout the baseball world, even touching former players and trickling into the stands of games in progress.

In addition to turning Target Field purple, the Twins honored their hometown hero with their own rendition of a Prince classic.

Prince, who was born Prince Rogers Nelson, but has gone under many pseudonyms across his career, is one of the best selling artists of all time, selling more than 100 million records worldwide since the late 1970s.
