Former Alabama PG Justin Coleman transferring to Samford

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama transfer Justin Coleman has found a new home, and it's within shouting distance of his former program.

The 5-foot-10 point guard committed to Samford on Wednesday, just an hour down the road from the Crimson Tide's Tuscaloosa campus. Coleman grew up in Birmingham, so the move to join the Bulldogs is a homecoming of sorts.

Coming out of high school in the 2014 recruiting class, Coleman was ranked by ESPN as the 76th-best player in the country. In his sophomore season with the Crimson Tide, Coleman averaged 7.8 points and 3.3 assists in 26 minutes per game.

As per NCAA transfer regulations, Coleman will be forced to sit out the 2016-17 season before becoming eligible for the following campaign.
