Bayern executive denies report suggesting Robben suffered setback

Bayern Munich has denied a report claiming that Arjen Robben sustained an avulsion fracture.

Instead, sporting executive Matthias Sammer insisted that Robben is suffering from an adductor injury.

When asked about the report in German publication Sport Bild, Sammer said: "That's completely wrong.

"It's not correct. He has problems in the adductor region, like we have said all along. He could not have completed a public 30-minute running session at our training facilities. It's a phenomenon to me how that could even be possible."

Robben has not suited up for the three-time German champions since a March 5 draw with Borussia Dortmund.

He was originally ruled out of Bayern's Champions League tie with Juventus with a cold.

The report comes a week after Robben confirmed there is no timeframe for his return.

"It's really frustrating because I was back in top condition again and was ready for the important games of the season," he said in an interview with Sky Sports. "But I never give up."

Injuries have limited Robben to just 14 league matches this term.
