The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to a minor-league deal with right-hander Justin Masterson, reports Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Masterson held a showcase in front of 10-15 teams in late March, and it looks like the Pirates liked what they saw from the former All-Star, who spent last season with the Boston Red Sox.

The 31-year-old will work with Pirates pitching coach Ray Searage, who's already helped turn around the careers of many pitchers, including Francisco Liriano, A.J. Burnett, J.A. Happ, and Joe Blanton, to name a few.

Over the course of eight big-league seasons split between the Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and St. Louis Cardinals, Masterson owns a 64-74 record with a 4.31 ERA.
