San Diego State's Malik Pope declares for draft without agent

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Malik Pope is dipping his toe into the NBA draft waters.

The San Diego State sophomore forward is declaring for the 2016 NBA Draft, but will hold off on hiring an agent. Remaining unrepresented means Pope can jump out of the pool and return to school next year.

In his second season with the Aztecs, the Sacramento, Calif., native averaged 7.3 points and five boards per contest.

If selected, Pope will be the fourth San Diego State draft pick since 2011, a string that began with the selection of Kawhi Leonard.
