Ibrahimovic will sue doctor over doping claims, agent says

Zlatan Ibrahimovic's agent, Mino Raiola, has threatened a "different life" for Ulf Karlsson following suggestions from the doctor that the Paris Saint-Germain player was involved in doping.

Raiola told Swedish publication Expressen they plan to sue Karlsson for saying Ibrahimovic "increased weight very quickly (at Juventus)," and that "it's unnatural to show such rapid weight gain."

"We will sue him. There are always people who hate. Maybe he is a former athlete who failed, or maybe he's just jealous," Raiola said, according to the Guardian. "But this man has made a big mistake. He had one life before making this statement, and he will have a different life after it. He is spreading falsehoods.

"Doping at Juventus was over when Zlatan arrived. We had plenty of doping controls there and Zlatan was tested between 15 and 20 times. Juventus were always under the microscope. The claims are just crazy - the facts are not there. All the clubs Zlatan has been at know he doesn't even take aspirin."

Karlsson said he has no evidence to back up his claims, and while Ibrahimovic apparently remains "calm" over the situation, the comments have drawn ire from elsewhere in the Swedish Football Association.

"I'm speechless, I have to say, that he can come up with these accusations," Swedish national team boss Lars Richt said of Karlsson, who has worked with his country's athletics team but not with Ibrahimovic. "I don't know what he is basing it on, the claims are extraordinary."

Ibrahimovic missed a penalty but made amends by pouncing on a Fernando error to score in a 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Wednesday. He returns to domestic duty at Guingamp on Saturday.
