Towson adds former Oregon QB Mahalak

Former Oregon quarterback Morgan Mahalak has transferred to Towson and is expected to compete for the starting job next season.

Towson, a member of CAA Football, is coming off a 7-4 campaign and loses starter Connor Frazier to graduation. Mahalak will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after he joins the Tigers this summer.

"We are happy that we have secured a commitment from such a talented young quarterback," Towson coach Rob Ambrose said. "Morgan brings a tremendous amount of potential and secures great competition at the quarterback position."

The 6-foot-3, 205 Mahalak, from Kentfield, California, never threw a pass at Oregon. He redshirted in his first year in 2014 and ran the scout team this past season.

He was a former four-star dual-threat recruit who backed up Cal quarterback Jared Goff at Marin Catholic High School before he became the starting signal caller as a senior in 2013. He completed 160 of 260 attempts for 2,725 yards and 38 touchdowns and rushed for 575 yards and seven touchdowns.
