Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes won't partake in the Red Raiders' baseball season this spring, the school announced Wednesday.

The dual-sport athlete was the 35th-ranked right-handed pitcher in Texas coming out of high school, and made one appearance for the Red Raiders in 2015. Unfortunately, it didn't go too well, as Mahomes gave up three earned runs and hit a batter while failing to record an out.

On the bright side, the sophomore lit up the Big 12 on the football field, passing for 4,653 yards and 35 touchdowns for the second-ranked offense in the country.

Perhaps sticking to the gridiron is the right choice.
