Report: Former Oklahoma State QB J.W. Walsh joins TCU as grad assistant

Ben Queen-USA TODAY Sports

J.W. Walsh is moving from his role as Oklahoma State quarterback to TCU graduate assistant coach, as the 23-year-old is joining the Horned Frogs' staff, a source told Kyle Fredrickson of The Oklahoman.

The fifth-year senior applied for a sixth year of eligibility due to medical hardship in November, but it seems as though he's given up on the small possibility one would be granted.

Walsh's father is a high school coach in Texas, so it comes as no shock to Cowboys coach Mike Gundy that he would enter the field.

"He's going to coach at this level," Gundy said. "He very well could be the coach (at Oklahoma State) some day."

The Texas native finishes his Cowboys career with 3,917 yards passing, 36 touchdowns and 1,036 yards rushing with 25 scores.
