Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

Former Pitt safety Pat Amara has elected to continue his career at UMass, he announced Thursday.

Amara, a sophomore, left the Panthers at the end of the season, and coach Pat Narduzzi revealed that he planned to transfer. Amara appeared in 18 games over his two seasons with Pitt, registering 32 tackles, and one interception.

The Philadelphia native will need to sit out a full season before he can take the field for his new squad.
