Memphis might as well have taken victory formation at halftime, after quarterback Paxton Lynch tied an FBS record with seven touchdown passes in a half.

Lynch absolutely shredded the SMU defense, throwing touchdowns to seven different receivers on 9-of-14 passing and 222 yards as the Tigers went up 56-0.

In the process, he set a school record for touchdowns in a game with his sixth, while his seventh also set the AAC record for touchdowns in a game.

To put things in perspective, Lynch has thrown as many touchdown passes in the first half against the Mustangs as New Mexico and Georgia Southern have thrown combined this season.

Coming into the game, the junior had thrown for 21 touchdowns on 3,448 yards.

For what it's worth, the FBS record for touchdowns in a game is 11, set by former Houston quarterback David Klingler.
