Georgia receives 4-star running back as Thanksgiving gift

The speculation regarding Mark Richt's status as Georgia's coach hasn't affected his ability to recruit, as four-star running back Devwah Whaley announced his commitment to the Bulldogs on Thursday.

Whaley is ranked by ESPN the No. 3 running back in the 2016 class, and the No. 49 prospect overall.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder also took official visits to Texas A&M and Arkansas. A laundry list of other schools courted the Texas native, including Oklahoma, Texas, and Baylor.

Whaley will hope to become the newest star in Georgia's lineage of running backs that includes Todd Gurley and Nick Chubb. However, he may need to wait for playing time, as the latter is still in the Bulldogs' fold. He'll also have to compete with fellow four-star running back recruit Elijah Holyfield, who committed to Georgia earlier this year.
