Ohio State came to life late in a game that looked like it was going to be close, as the Buckeyes came out on top with a 49-28 victory over Maryland.

Here's what you need to know:

  • With head coach Randy Edsall coaching for his job, Maryland almost pulled off the upset despite the lopsided score. The Terps hung in with the Buckeyes until the game unraveled in the third quarter.
  • Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott rushed for over 100 yards for the 11th consecutive game, including two touchdowns.
  • Maryland quarterback Perry Hills proved to be the catalyst, rushing for a career-high 170 yards and two scores, while throwing for another touchdown in the loss. That's the most rushing yards Ohio State's allowed by a quarterback under Urban Meyer.
  • Ohio State got the best of both quarterbacks in this one. Cardale Jones threw for 279 yards and two scores, while J.T. Barrett rushed for 36 yards and two touchdowns. It's unclear how Urban Meyer will use the duo going forward, but Barrett seems to be his red-zone guy.
  • Of all top teams in the country, Ohio State has lived on the edge for the majority of the season. The Buckeyes have been tied or trailing in the second half of four of their six games.

Play of the Game

Ohio State's Braxton Miller has proven he has what it takes to be an above-average receiver. He did it in Week 1 with the spin move, and he did it again against the Terps on Saturday, juking out a defender on a straight one-on-one.

Next up, Ohio State will host Penn State next week. Maryland gets the week off before also hosting Penn State on Oct. 24.
