Assault charges against Rutgers' Leonte Carroo dropped

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Rutgers wide receiver Leonte Carroo has had the assault charges against him dropped, according to his attorney Peter Gilbreth.

Carroo will, however, be required by the court to complete six hours of anger management counselling.

Carroo was charged after being accused of slamming his ex-girlfriend to the concrete, injuring her head, elbow, hands, and hip in an incident outside the Rutgers practice facility.

The woman had asked the court to dismiss the charge and agreed to drop a restraining order request.

"I'm not scared," she said. "I don't feel it's necessary."

Carroo has been suspended while the case was being settled. He could be eligible to play Saturday against Michigan State, pending a decision from the team.
