Arkansas' Jonathan Williams won't rule out returning this season

Arkansas running back Jonathan Williams isn't giving up on his season just yet.

Although it was announced in mid-August that Williams would miss the regular season with a foot injury, the senior is keeping hope alive for a possible return late in the season.

"If there's a chance at the end of the season for me to play, I want to be as strong as possible," Williams told reporters Thursday.

If Williams doesn't make it back this season, it could be his last in Arkansas. He noted that he would most likely turn pro following the 2015 campaign.

Of course, it would certainly help Williams' chances of a return if the Razorbacks could find their way into the College Football Playoff. That would extend their season into January and allow him more time to heal. It seems unlikely Williams would rush back to the field unless Arkansas was in the championship hunt.

Losing Williams undoubtedly hurts the team's vaunted rushing attack, as his nearly 1,200 yards on the ground last season can't easily be replaced. That said, the Razorbacks employ a two-headed monster - Alex Collins posted 1,100 yards of his own in 2014.
