Charges against Ole Miss' Laremy Tunsil, stepfather officially dismissed

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The competing domestic violence charges leveled against Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil and his stepfather were officially dismissed Monday, according to Riley Blevins of The Clarion-Ledger.

Steven Farese, Tunsil's attorney, said Friday that both parties mutually agreed to drop the domestic violence charges against each other and signed dismissal forms last week.

The charges stem from an incident in late June, when Tunsil allegedly assaulted his stepfather, Lindsey Miller.

Tunsil said he only did so because Miller was attacking his mother.

However, Miller said the altercation was sparked by him warning Tunsil about having contact with sports agents.

He has reportedly alleged that player agents provided Tunsil, a projected top-five pick in next year's NFL draft, with cash, clothes, help with car insurance payments, and other gifts.

Miller also reportedly said he's aware of rules violations during Tunsil's recruitment process, such as falsified academic records and gifts from the school.

The allegations have since prompted an official NCAA investigation.

Ole Miss said it would fully cooperate with the probe and launched an internal investigation of its own.
