UCLA's Mora on quarterback change: 'The offensive scheme is not going to change'

With Brett Hundley gone, UCLA is facing uncertainty at the quarterback position for the first time since 2012.

Head coach Jim Mora believes whichever player wins the starting gig will be in a better position than Hundley was when he took the job.

"Whoever is taking snaps from Jake (Brendel) can depend on those around them more than Brett had three years ago," Mora told media members gathered at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif., according to Julian Lopez of Conquest Chronicles.

With running back Paul Perkins returning after rushing for 1,575 yards and nine touchdowns, and each of the team's top three receivers also back, the Bruins' new quarterback will have good skill position players around him.

Redshirt juniors Mike Fafaul and Jerry Neuheisel will compete for the starting job along with true freshman Josh Rosen.

Mora said he sees similarities between those players and Hundley.

"Regardless of who the quarterback is, the offensive scheme is not going to change," he said.
