Dan Enos: Offensive coordinator job with Arkansas represents 'great opportunity'

Dan Enos says his surprising decision to swap head coaching duties at Central Michigan for the offensive coordinator role at Arkansas was the right move for both his career and family.

"It wasn't like I sat down and said, 'I don't want to be a head coach anymore. I want to be an offensive coordinator,'" Enos said, according to Greg Ostendorf of ESPN. "The opportunity arose and as we investigated and looked into it – and for my wife and my children and myself, at this time in our lives – we thought it was a good time for a change, and we thought this was a great opportunity."

In five seasons with the Chippewas, Enos boasted a 26-36 record, propelling Central Michigan from an unflattering 3-9 afterthought in 2010 to a respectable 7-6 last season.

However, the Dearborn, Mich., native was wooed by the opportunity to work for a strong Razorbacks squad under coach Bret Bielema that appears poised to make a run in the SEC West.

It's a position that also comes with an impressive pay hike. Enos doubled his salary by heading to Arkansas, where he'll also be offered far more recognition than in the college football hinterland of Central Michigan.

"To leave a head coaching position, he had to think there was something special waiting," Bielema said of Enos's move. "And I know we have it here at Arkansas."
