Report: NCAA officials interview Laremy Tunsil's stepfather in Ole Miss probe

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

NCAA officials have interviewed the stepfather of Ole Miss tackle Laremy Tunsil as part of an investigation into alleged rules violations by the school's football program, according to Riley Blevins of The Clarion-Ledger.

Lindsey Miller, Tunil's stepfather, reportedly confirmed that he met for about three hours with the collegiate sports organization's director of enforcement for football Chris Howard and another unnamed official.

He declined to offer further details, saying he agreed to keep the conversation confidential.

The visit to Oxford, Miss., by NCAA officials comes about one week after Tunsil was arrested for domestic assault against his stepfather – an altercation Miller claims was sparked by his warning to Tunsil about having contact with player agents.

Blevins also notes that Miller has since revealed that he is aware of violations during Tunsil's recruitment process, including claims of falsified academic records and gifts from the school.

As well, Miller reportedly alleged that player agents have provided Tunsil, projected to be a top-five pick in next year's NFL draft, with cash, clothes, help with car insurance payments and other gifts.

A university spokesman has said that the school had not been contacted by the NCAA and had not been informed of any officials from the sports governing body being in the region.

Hugh Freeze, football coach at Ole Miss, has said that Tunil assaulted his stepfather in defense of his mother.
