Report: Braxton Miller planning to stay at Ohio State

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller plans to remain a Buckeye and continue to focus on rehabbing and recovering from the torn labrum he suffered in preseason practice a year ago, according to Joe Schad of ESPN.

Miller told Tim May of The Columbus Dispatch on Wednesday that he expects to announce his immediate plans next week.

All signs point to Miller being healthy in time for the start of Ohio State's upcoming preseason camp, where he'll compete for the starting quarterback job with J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones.

Many have speculated that Miller has been surpassed on the depth chart by at least Barrett, if not both of his counterparts, and that he could consider a switch to a different position. That would allow him to see the field more this season, and afford him the opportunity to audition for the pro ranks, where he would likely make a switch away from quarterback.

Miller tweeted that he had a successful checkup with orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews earlier this week.

Ohio State opens the regular season against Virginia Tech on Sept. 7.
