Urban Meyer: Braxton Miller will play for Ohio State this fall

Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer told reporters Friday that quarterback Braxton Miller will remain a Buckeye for his final year of collegiate eligibility.

"He's playing for Ohio State (this) fall," Meyer said.

Miller missed the entirety of the 2014 season after sustaining a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder during preseason camp. He continues to rehab, but Meyer expressed optimism about his progress.

"Braxton started throwing. I think he's up to 35 yards. Aggressive to 25," Meyer said. "He's working his tail off. He's in the best shape of his life."

Meyer also noted that he hasn't considered playing Miller at any position other than quarterback.

There had been speculation that Miller would seek a transfer with the emergence of J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones at the quarterback position.

Barrett guided the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record before fracturing his ankle in the regular-season finale. Jones then went 3-0 as a starter, winning the Big Ten Championship Game, the Sugar Bowl, and the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Miller accounted for 3,162 total yards and 36 touchdowns in 2013.
