Michigan's hiring of Jim Harbaugh as its new head football coach certainly bumped up the program's profile within the state, but Harbaugh isn't ready to declare the Wolverines the big dogs just yet.

Speaking at a Detroit-area high school coaches clinic Wednesday, Harbaugh discussed Michigan State's success in relation to Michigan's.

"We know we're not the biggest guy on the block - Michigan State's the biggest guy," Harbaugh said, according to Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press.

"Rightfully so. They have done a tremendous job. We respect the job they've done, but we want to be that."

Harbaugh didn't let the praise end there.

"It's winning and where their program is, it's been earned," Harbaugh said. "We respect the job that they've done. We want people to know what our ambitions are and how we go about things and what kind of program we're developing and has been developed for many years. And get their help."

Over the last two seasons, Michigan State has put together a 24-3 overall record, while Michigan has gone 12-13.
