4-star RB commits to Florida for 15 minutes, flips to Syracuse

If there was ever a bizarre recruiting situation in college football, this is it.

On Saturday, Bleacher Report published an exclusive video in which Robert Washington, a four-star running back out of North Carolina, announced his commitment to Florida.

But celebrations in Gainesville were short-lived, as 15 minutes after the video went live, Washington held a press conference in which he committed to Syracuse.

So what exactly happened? Washington says it wasn't a matter of minutes in which he made his decision, but instead it was conclusion he came to on the drive from Connecticut to North Carolina, according to Syracuse.com's Stephen Bailey

"I did the report on Thursday," Washington said. "I had my mind set for the report, but I changed my mind the next day to Syracuse.

"I was just thinking about it on the way down. ... I was praying and praying and thinking and I let God reach me."

The highly-touted prospect says neither coaching staff knew he was going to flip his commitment. Washington picked Syracuse over other top programs such as Alabama, Michigan, TCU and North Carolina
