Missouri, Gary Pinkel agree to new contract through 2021
Missouri has amended the contract of head football coach Gary Pinkel, keeping him on the sidelines in Columbia through Dec. 31, 2021.
The new deal, announced Friday, will increase the guaranteed money in Pinkel's deal from $3,200,000 to $4,020,000 per year.
"The success of our football program has helped elevate the university's national profile and Gary's teams have provided some incredibly proud moments for all Missourians," said Chancellor Dr. R. Bowen Loftin in a statement. "His commitment to excellence is exemplified not only in his on-field success, but in the academic achievements of his student-athletes and the high character young men who graduate from MU. This commitment to Gary is well-earned."
The Tigers are coming off back-to-back appearances in the SEC title game, and have gone 14-2 in regular season play inside the conference in the last two seasons.
Pinkel is the winningest coach in the history of the Missouri football program, compiling 113 wins in 14 seasons.
