Kentucky QB Reese Phillips suffers ruptured Achilles

Mark Zerof / USA TODAY Sports

Kentucky's quarterback situation just got even more complicated.

Quarterback Reese Phillips will miss the spring and summer after suffering a ruptured Achilles in a Wednesday workout, according to Jennifer Smith of the Herald-Leader

The Wildcats are already without former starter Maxwell Smith, who graduated and transferred to San Diego State, while the team is hesitant to take the redshirt off Drew Barker.

Barker is also one of three players invovled in an alleged January bar fight, though he evaded charges. If that case resurfaces and a ruling comes down, his status with the team will be in jeopardy.

That leaves the team with only Patrick Towles, who started every game in 2014. He threw for 2,718 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
