Clemson QB Deshaun Watson plans to practice Monday

Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

Deshaun Watson plans on practicing Monday ahead of Clemson's rival game against South Carolina.

Watson, who sprained his MCL nine days earlier, is expected to wear a non-contact jersey, according to The Post and Courier's Aaron Brenner.

Head coach Dabo Swinney said that's not uncommon for his quarterbacks in practice.

"We don't let guys do live work," he said. "We don't hit the quarterbacks in practice anyway."

Watson will need to prove whether or not his right knee is healthy enough to let him take the snaps behind center next week. Anything other than a full recovery will mean he won't play.

"He's got to be able to do what we need him to do in the passing game and the running game," Swinney said. "He can't be a sitting duck back there, he's got to be able to move and scramble and run.

"So we'll evaluate that and see where he is. I'm anxious to see him tomorrow, just like everybody is."
