Michigan donor buys 2,000 'Fire Dave Brandon' T-shirts for fans Saturday

A generous Michigan donor has purchased 2,000 T-shirts that read 'Fire Dave Brandon' for students to wear Saturday when Michigan welcomes Indiana to town.

Craig Kaplan, a student who has been involved in efforts to push for the Michigan athletic director's dismissal, hopes to distribute the custom-made white T-shirts to interested student organizations by Thursday evening.

The T-shirts read, “We support the team, the team, the team. #FireDaveBrandon.”

Kaplan told The Michigan Daily, a Michigan student newspaper, that he hopes the message will be caught on live television.

“We support the team. That’s the crucial part,” said Kaplan. “We want to see the best for them. Dave Brandon is not the best for them. That’s the message we’re trying to get across.”

Though the donor prefers to remain anonymous, he/she was one of many alumnus to reach out to Kaplan following a Sept. 30 rally to have Brandon fired.

Brandon, possibly sensing the growing dissent, made a relatively unprecedented move last week when he slashed student season ticket prices from $280 to $175, a nearly 40 percent drop.

For Kaplan, the move came too late though.

“I think everyone deserves the ability to have a second chance. Unfortunately, he’s on his fifth or sixth.”
