John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The Tallahassee Police Department has confirmed that it is investigating Florida State running back Karlos Williams in an alleged domestic battery case.

It's unclear what role Williams played in the incident, but as of Monday afternoon he has not been charged or arrested.

According to ESPN's Jared Shanker, Williams appeared at Seminoles practice in full pads on Monday.

TPD released the following statement:

The Tallahassee Police Department is currently working an alleged domestic battery involving Karlos Williams. TPD received the case on Saturday night, October 25th, 2014 and it was immediately assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division. The alleged crime is an active on-going investigation and Florida Law does not allow TPD to discuss the details of any case while it is on-going.

Once the case is complete, it will be released under the guidelines of Florida Public Records Law.

Williams currently leads the Seminoles with seven touchdowns and 378 rushing yards on 82 carries.

According to Sean Rossman of the Tallahassee Democrat, Tim Jansen, who is currently representing Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, will also represent Williams.

Florida State issued the following statement regarding the ongoing investigation:

The Athletics Department is aware of an investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department involving football student-athlete Karlos Williams. Until we receive more information regarding the alleged incident his status with the team will be under review.
